The bill authorising a lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose of rebuilding the steeple of the Ger-

man reformed church in Frederick County [... ]

The report upon the petition of John B. Colvin, of Frederick county, was read the second time and the re-
solutions therein contained assented to.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Van-Horn and Mr. Hebb be added to the committee appointed on the peti-
tion from sundry inhabitants of Baltimore county praying a road from Beam's tavern to Randall's-town.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Van-Horn be added to the committee to bring in a bill for the encourage-
ment of learning in this state, in the place of Mr. Watts, who has leave to withdraw from the same.
The bill to repeal the second section of an act, entitled, An act to enlarge further the powers of the trustees
of the poor in the several counties therein mentioned, was read the second time and passed, which, together
with the bill to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money for the purpose of rebuilding the steeple of the

German reformed church in Frederick-town, in Frederick county, the bill authorising the laying out a road in
Worcester county from Mitchell's causeway to intersect the Soccom road leading to Broad creek, the bill an-
nulling the marriage of Archibald Alexander and Susanna Alexander, the bill to prevent persons from staking

out seines across the rivers Transquakin and Chickwiccomico, in Dorchester county, and the resolutions in fa-
vour of John B. Colvin, of Frederick county, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

THURSDAY, December 12, 1805.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Scott and Mr. Selby be added to the committee appointed to bring in a bill
for the regulation of officers fees.

The bill to authorise a lottery to raise a sum of money to purchase a fire engine, and to purchase ground and
build a school-house in Rockville, in Montgomery county, was read the second time and passed.

Mr. Plater, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report:

THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Philip Key, of Saint-Mary's county, report, that they
have taken the same into consideration, and thinking the prayer of the petitioner reasonable, submit the follow-
ing resolution:

RESOLVED, That the balance now due on the bond of Philip Key, of Saint-Mary's, to this state, dated on

or about the twentieth day of November, eighteen hundred and four, for the sum of six hundred and twenty-
nine pounds two shillings and five-pence current money, be and the same is hereby directed to be paid in the
following manner, to wit: One half of the balance now due on said bond, together with interest thereon from
the twentieth day of September, eighteen hundred and five, to be paid on or before the twentieth day of Octo-
ber, eighteen hundred and six, and the balance then due on said bond, together with interest thereon from the
twentieth day of October, eighteen hundred and seven, and that no proceedings be had on said bond to recover
the money thereby due, until the times for which the payment thereof, as hereby fixed, shall have elapsed.

Which was read.

The bill to authorise the issuing of patents to Joshua Meredith and Thomas Meredith for the land therein
mentioned, was read the second time and passed, which, together with the bill to authorise the drawing of a
lottery for the benefit of St. Mary's college in Baltimore county, and the bill to authorise a lottery to raise a
sum of money to purchase a fire engine, and to purchase ground and build a school-house in Rockville, in Mont-
gomery county, was sent to the senate by the clerk.

A petition from Benjamin Buckingham, of Baltimore county, praying that the levy court of said county may
be authorised to levy a sum of money for the support of his daughter, a lunatic, was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Lemmon, Mr. Harryman and Mr. Ogden, to consider and report thereon.

On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill, entitled, An act to provide for the erection of a new court-house
for Baltimore county. ORDERED, That Mr. Stephen, Mr. Ellicott and Mr. Ogden, be a committee to prepare
and bring in the same.

A petition from Benjamin Ray, of Montgomery county, stating, that he will be materially injured by the
operation of the bill for the abolition of the general court and court of appeals without the interposition of the
legislature, and praying that his case may be taken into consideration, was preferred, read, and referred to the
committee appointed to bring in a bill for the organization and regulation of the courts of common law in this
state, and for the administration of justice therein.

A petition from Robert Halkerstone, of Charles county, stating, that he had been wounded in the revoluti-
onary war, and praying some allowance for his support, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Van-Horn,
Mr. Plater, Mr. Ellicott, Mr. Ringgold and Mr. Sturgis, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from William Boon, of Caroline county, praying a special act of insolvency, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr. Bayard, Mr. Holbrook and Mr. Turpin, to consider and report thereon.

The clerk of the senate delivers the supplement to an act, entitled, An act to establish a market, and to
build a market-house, in the western precincts of Baltimore, and for the regulation of the same, endorsed,
