On motion, the question was put, Will the house postpone the consideration of the said bill? Determined in
the negative.

The house proceeded to the reconsideration of the said bill; on motion, the question was put, that the last:
clause thereof be stricken out? Resolved in the affirmative.

On motion, the question was put, Will the house reconsider the preamble of the said bill ? Resolved in the
affirmative.

On motion, the question was put, That the words "and confirming the marriage of the said John Muskett

A petition from Joseph Boyd, of Prince-George's county, praying a law may pass annulling his marriage with,
Elizabeth Tale, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Van-Horn, Mr. Ellicott and Mr. Contee, to consi-
der and report thereon.

A petition from Henry Joseph Stier, a resident of the city of Antwerp, in the French dominions, praying a
law may pass, authorising him to purchase and hold real property in this state, without his becoming a citizen
of the United States, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Van-Horn, Mr. Stephen, Mr. Callis, Mr. Con-
tee and Mr. Carroll, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Ogden, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to provide for the election
of commissioners to settle and ascertain the public taxes in each county of this state, and for other purposes;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

On motion, ORDERED, That the said bill be made the order of the day for Tuesday the seventeenth instant.
A petition from sundry inhabitants of the city of Baltimore, counter to the petition for the extension of Pratt-
street, was preferred, read, and referred to the committee appointed on the petition to which it is counter.

Mr. Harryman, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, Ah act to authorise and empow-
er the levy court of Baltimore county to assess and levy a sum of money for the purpose therein mentioned;
which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The bill to prevent persons from staking out seines across the rivers Transquakin and Chickwiccomico, in
Dorchester county, was read the second time and passed.

Petitions from Thomas Loveday, of Caroline county, Richard Rawlings, of Anne-Arundel county, and Tho-
mas Coffield, of Caecil county, praying acts of insolvency, were preferred, read, and referred to the commit-
tee appointed on petitions of a similar nature.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Frederick-town, praying a law may pass to change the time of hold-
ing market in said town, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Kuhn, Mr; Stephen and Mr. Hawkins, to
consider and report thereon.

A petition from Robert Elliott; of Harford county, stating, that he was wounded in the revolutionary war,
and praying some provision be made for his support, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Montgomery, Mr.
Chapman and Mr. Ellicott, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from sundry inhabitants of Harford county, praying a law may pass limitting the number of dogs
to be attached to a family, and prohibiting negroes, free and bond, from keeping them, was preferred, read,
and referred to Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Street and Mr. Chapman, to consider and report thereon.

A petition from Philip Key, of Saint-Mary's county, praying to be indulged in the payment of a debt due by
him to the state, was preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Plater, Mr. Watts and Mr. Hebb, to consider and.
report thereon.

On motion, ORDERED, That the bill to alter the time of the meeting of the general assembly of this state,
and for other purposes, be recommitted for amendment.

The. bill to lay out and open a road in Worcester county from Mitchell's causeway to intersect the Soccom
road leading to Broad creek, was read the second time and passed.
