NEGATIVE.

Hurtt, Harryman, Porter, Hawkins, Cockey, Forwood, Turpin, Stephen,

So it was resolved in the affirmative.

On progression, the question was put, That the second resolution be stricken out of the said report ? Re-
solved in the affirmative.

On progression, the question was put, That the words " the line of the state" be stricken out of the suc-
ceeding resolution ? Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, That the words " tide water" be inserted in lieu of the words stricken out?
Resolved in the affirmative.

The question was then put, Will the house assent to the said resolution ? Determined in the negative.

On motion, that the following be inserted after the word " adviseable" in the said report, viz.

" RESOLVED, therefore, That the sum of ———— dollars be appropriated, out of any monies that may come
into the treasury during the current year exceeding prior appropriations and the current expences of the go-
vernment, towards opening, clearing and turnpiking, the road from William's Port, in Washington county, to
Cumberland, in Allegany county, to be laid out under the direction of such persons as shall hereafter be ap-
pointed, as soon as the congress of the United States shall have authorised the opening and establishing of a
road from Cumberland aforesaid to the Ohio, and that leave be given to bring in a bill for the purpose of carry-
ing this resolution into effect. "

The question was put, That the blank therein be filled up with the words " thirty thousand ?" Determined
in the negative.

The question was then put, That the said blank be filled up with the words " twenty thousand?" Determined
in the negative.

On motion, Leave given to withdraw the said resolution.

On progression, the question was put, Will the house concur with the residue of said report ? The yeas and
nays being required, appeared as follow:

On motion, ORDERED, That Mr. Bruce, Mr. Stephen, Mr. Montgomery, Mr. Ellicott and Mr. Hyland, be
a committee to prepare and bring in a bill agreeably to the said report.

Mr. Watts, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the relief of sundry in-
solvent debtors; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Montgomery, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled. An act to pay the civil list,
and other expences of civil government; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.

Mr. Bruce, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, A supplement to an act to reduce
into one the several acts of assembly respecting elections, and to regulate said elections; which was read the
first time and ordered to lie on the table.

The house adjourns until to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, January 22, 1806.

THE house met. Present the same members as on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act to erect Baltimore-town, in Baltimore county, into a
; ity, and to incorporate the inhabitants thereof, the bill relating tu the inspection of tobacco not the growth of
this state, and the resolutions relative to the bank stock of this state, were sent to the senate by the clerk.

The bill to appoint commissioners for the regulation and improvement of Chester-town, in Kent county, and
for other purposes, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.

The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to establish a chancery tribunal on the eastern shore of this state,
and to alter and abolish all such parts of the constitution and form of government of this state as are repugnant
thereto, and the supplement to an act to establish a bank, and incorporate a company, under the name of The
Farmers Bank of Maryland, and for other purposes, severally endorsed, " will not pass. " And the supplement
