60                                        March Court 1724

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he
Imediately Cause to Come here twelve &c.a by whome &c.a who Neither &c.a to
Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which s.d precept the s.d Sher to wit
Fred.k Hanson Gent now here At this Day to wit the Sixteenth Day of
March Anno Dom Seventeen hundred & twenty four makes Return that
he hath here ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Comanded And now
here afterwards to wit the Day and year last mentioned Come again as
well the s.d Lord prop.ry by Michael Howard his Clerk of Indictments
afd as also the s.d William Neavill who Stands at y.e Barr and the Jurors
of that Jury being Impannelled and Called likewise Came to wit, Josias
Lanham, Abraham Ambrose, Robert Dunn jun.r, John Huff, James
Thomas, Thomas Chandler, Thomas Medford, William Crow, Vincent
Hatchinson, Phil Brooks, John Denning, William Dean who being
Duely elected tryed and Sworn to Say the truth in the premisses upon their
oath Do say that y.e s.d William Neavill prisoner at the Barr is Guilty
as he Stands Indicted for felonious by Stealing y.e afd Shirt
   
    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the
Town of Chester in s.d County this Sixteenth Day of March Anno Domini
Seventeen hundred and twenty four that y.e afd William Neavill Stand in
the pillory for the Space of one hour and that afterwards he receive at y.e
publick whipping post thirteen Lashes well laid on his bare back till
the blood appears as a punishment for his afd Crime of felonioulsy Stealing
a Shirt according to ^the^ force form and Effect of the Verdict afd also it is
Considered that y.e s.d William Neavill pay the Sume of Seaven hundred
Seventy & four pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing on y.e premisses afd
to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here at this Day to wit the Day & year last mentioned
that the Sherr of Kent County take y.e afd William Neavill into his
Custody and Execute the punishment in y.e Judgm.t afd Specifyed And
afterwards to bring him into Court again of which precept the s.d Sherr
to wit Fred.k Hanson Gent high Sherr of K.t County makes Return on
the Day and year last said that he hath Executed the s.d Judgment And also
hath here the s.d W.m Neavill before the Court                    Jam.s Smith Clk  also
