Late of Saint pauls parish in the County afd Labourer the first
day of November Anno Dom Seventeen hundred twenty and
seven with force and Arms at the parish afd in the County afd
within the Jurisdiction of this Court one side of Tanned Leather
of the value of Sixty pounds of Tobacco of the goods and Chattles
of a Certain William Bradshaw then and there being found
then and there feloniously did steal take and bear away
Contrary to the Peace of the said Lord Proprietary that now is
his good rule and Government and against the form of the
Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided
Test William Bradshaw
and Wulliam Curtis
T francis Cler. pac.

    On the back of the preceeding Indictm.t was Endorst as foll.s viz.t
    A true bill by Thomas Hynson Sen.r foreman

    And the afd Thomas Stacey in his proper person comes
and saith that he is ^in^ no sort guilty of the premisses above upon
him Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereof
he putteth himself upon the Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord propry in Like manner
saith he is guilty                                        T francis p Lord prop.ry

    And now here afterward to wit the twenty first day of Novemb
Anno Dom seventeen hundred twenty and Seven comes into
Court the afd Thomas Stacey in his proper person and relinquesheth
the plea afd and saith that he Cannott gainsay the Indictm.t
afd so as afd against him brought nor but that he is guilty of
the premisses above upon him Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t
it is alleadged and thereupon Submitts to the Court

    Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the
Court house in the Town of Chester in Kent County this twenty
first Day of November Anno Dom seventeen hundred twenty
and Seven that the afd Thomas Stacey stand on the pillory for
the space of half an hour and that afterwards he receive
at the publick whiping post twenty one Lashes well laid on
his bare back till the blood appears as a punishment for his
afd Crime of stealing the afd side of Leather in form afd Confest
                                                                                            also
