June Court 1727 before the Justices of the then next Court to be held for s.d County to Answer unto an Information for Extortion of fees and if that in the mean time y.e s.d Edward Should not be of Good Behaviour and now at this Court to wit y.e 20.th Day of June Anno Dom. 1727 y.e s.d Edward haveing appeared the afd John Young and Dan.l Flinn their Recognizances and either of them is Discharged Kent County fs.t Memorandum that Tench Francis Gent Attry of y.e Right Honourable the Lord prop.ry that now is for the County afd who for the Same Lord prop.ry in this part prosecuteth doth Come here into Kent County Court before Lambert Wilmer Esq.r and his Associates his s.d Lordships Justices of y.e Same County Court to wit at Chester in the afd County the fifteenth Day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred Court here to understand and be Informed that Edward Harris of S.t pauls parish in Kent County afd Gentleman the tenth Day of Aprill Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and Six the Clerk of the Hon.ble Roger Woolford and S.t Leadger Codd Esq.r his Lordships the Right Honourable y.e Lord prop.ry his Justices of Assize Nisi prius oyer and Terminer and Goal Delivery within the County afd being at y.e parish afd in the County afd within y.e Jurisdiction of this Court by Colour of his office falsly Corruptly and Extortiously did Receive and take of a Certain George Copper of the County afd planter one hundred and Sixty pounds of Tob.o for a fee from him y.e s.d George Copper unto him y.e s.d Edward by the Same Edward by Colour of his office afd said to be Due for two Copys of one Indictment against the afd George then Exhibited by the afd Edward made where as in truth no Such Sume of Tob.o or any part thereof for a fee unto the Same Edward Harris for the makeing the two Copys afd were Due or oweing to the Great Damage of the Same George to y.e Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending and Contrary to y.e peace of y.e s.d Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Government &c.a wherefore the afd Attry prayeth the Advice of the Court here in the premisses for y.e s.d Lord prop.ry and Due process of Law against the afd Edward in this part to Issue to Answer T francis Cler. pac.
