June Court 1727 he Imediately Cause to Come here twelve &c.a by whome &c.a who Neither & to Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which s.d precept the s.d Sherr to wit John Gresham Gentl now here at this Day to wit the twentyeth Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven makes Return that he hath here ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards to wit the Day & year last mentioned Come again the afd Lord prop.ry by Tench Francis his Clerk of Indictments and y.e s.d Thomas Jones in his proper person and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and Called likewise Cause to wit Samuel Wickes John Denning Thomas Hynson Jun.r Joshua Beck John Ashley James Kear Cornelius Hurlee Acquilla Beck Edward Rogers Jun.r Cha.s Smith William Tidmarsh Richard West who being Duely Elected tryed and Sworn to say the truth in the premisses upon their oath do Say that the afd Thomas Jones is guilty of y.e felony whereof he Stands Indicted and by Sam.l Wickes their foreman all So Say Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to witt at the Court house in the Town of Chester in Kent County this twentyeth Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty Seven that y.e said Thomas Jones Stand in the pillory for the Space of one hour afterwards he Receive at y.e publick whipping post twenty five lashes well laid on his bare back till y.e Blood appears as a punishment for his afd Crime of feloniously Stealing the afd Mare According to the force form and Effect of y.e verdict afd Also it is Considered that the said Thomas Jones pay the Sume of One Thousand four hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on y.e premisses afd Jam.s Smith Clk Ordered by the Court here at this Day to wit the Day and year last mentioned that the Sher of Kent County take the afd Thomas Jones into his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him into Court again of which s.d precept the s.d Sher to wit John Gresham Gent high Sher of Kent County makes Return on the Day and year last Said that he hath Executed the s.d Judgment and also hath here the s.d Thomas Jones before the Court Andrew Clements of Cæcill County planter Comes into Court and proves on the holy Evangilists of Almighty God that he has Attended this Court for the Space of Seven Days as an Evidence for his Lordship against the s.d Thomas Jones being therto Bound over and Summoned by this Court Whereupon it is ordered that y.e s.d Tho.s Jones pay the Sume of two hundred and tenn pounds of Tobacco for his attendance as afd |
