Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty & Six at the parish afd in the County afd
within the Jurisdiction of this Court Did Commit fornication with a Certain
person to the Jurors afd unknown and Did permit the Same unknown
person then and there to have Carnal knowledge of her Body and to
beget then and there a Bastard Child on the Body of her the Same Sarah to
the high Displeasure of Almighty God to y.e Evill Example of all others
in Such Case offending Contrary to y.e peace of y.e s.d Lord prop.ry that now
is his Good Rule and Government and against the form of y.e Act of Assembly
in that Case made and provided                T francis Cler. pac.

    On the Back of y.e preceeding Indictment was as foll.s viz.t True Bill
Sam.l Groome forem.n

    And the afd Sarah Duretty in her proper person Comes and Saith that
She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor but
that She is guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t
it is alledged & Thereupon Submitts to the Court Therefore it is Considered by
the Justices here this 20.th Day of June Anno Dom. 1727 that the s.d Sarah
Duretty pay the Sume of Six hundred pounds of Tobacco as a fine for her
afd offence of Committing fornication in form afd Confest also it is Considered
that y.e s.d Sarah pay the Sume of two hundred and twenty Six pounds of
Tobacco Costs accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here that the Sher of Kent County keep y.e said Sarah
Duretty in Safe Custody untill She Shall Satisfie y.e fine and fees in the
Judgment afd Specified in y.e Whole amounting to Eight hundred and
twenty Six pounds of Tobacco

Return of s.d writt Endorst as foll.s viz.t  Cepi Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sher

    Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is for
the Body of Kent County afd upon their oath Do present that Abel Jones late of
S.t pauls parish in the County afd Labourer the tenth Day of August Anno
Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and Six at the parish afd in the County
afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court Did Commit fornication with a
Certain Mary Sheppard and then and there Did beget a Bastard Child on
the Body of her the Same Mary to the high Displeasure of Almighty God
to y.e Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the
