the Rate of Sixty pounds of Tob.o p Month for keeping y.e afd Child untill

prop.ry that now is for the Body of Kent County afd upon
their Oath Do present that James Watson of S.t pauls
parish in the County afd planter the tenth Day of Feb.ry
Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and twenty Six with force and Arms at the
parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court one Saddle
of the Value of twenty Shillings Current money of Maryland of the
Goods and Chattles of a Certain William Hume then and there being being
found then and there feloniously Did Steal take and bear away Contrary
to the peace of the said Lord prop.ry that now is his good rule & Government
and against y.e form of y.e Act of Assembly in Such Case made & provided &c.a
Test W.m Hume W.m Houston    T francis Cler. pac.

    On y.e Back of y.e preceeding Indictm.t was as foll.s viz.t A true Bill Sam.l

                                                   March Court 1726

    And the afd James Watson Comes into Court in his proper person and Saith
that he is in no Sort guilty of the premisses above upon him Imposed as by
the afd Indictment it is alleadged and thereof he putteth himself upon
y.e Country                            Ja.s Watson in p.a psona

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry in like Manner Saith he is guilty

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sher of Kent County that he
Immediatly Cause ^to^ Come here twelve &c.a by whome &c.a who Neither &c.a to
Recognize &c.a because as well &c.a of which said precept the said Sher to wit
John Gresham Gentl now here at this Day to wit the twenty fourth Day of
March Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and twenty Six makes Return
that he hath here ready twelve &c.a as by his precept he was Commanded And now
here afterwards to wit the Day and year last mentioned Come again the afd Lord
prop.ry by Tench Francis his Clerk of Indictments and the afd James Watson
in his proper person and the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled and
Called likewise Came to wit Daniel Pearkins Alexander Brisco John
Brisco, Henry Truelock W.m Truelock James Ringgold Sen.r Caleb Beck
John Austin David Jones Cornelius Comegys James Moore and William
Woodland who being Duely Elected tryed and Sworn to Say y.e truth in the
premisses upon their oath Do Say that James Watson prisoner at the
Barr is guilty of feloniously Stealing the afd Saddle and by Daniel
Pearkins their foreman allso Say Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
here to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester in s.d County this twenty
fourth Day of March Anno Dom Seventeen hundred and twenty Six that
