March Court 1726/7 the afd James Watson Stand in the pillory for the Space of one hour and that afterwards he receive at the publick whipping post twenty one lashes well laid on his bare back till the Blood appears as a punishment for his afd Crime of feloniously Stealing the afd Saddle in y.e Indictment afd Specified According to the force form and Effect of the verdict afd Also it is Considered that the said James Watson pay the Sume of Seaven hundred and Seventy Seven pounds of Tob.o Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court Jam.s Smith Clk Ordered by the Court here at this Day to wit the Day and year last mentioned that the Sher of Kent County take the afd James Watson Into his Custody and Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified and afterwards to bring him into Court again of which precept the said Sher to wit John Gresham Gent. high Sher of Kent County makes Return on the Day and year af that he hath Executed the said Judgment and also hath here the s.d James Watson before y.e Court Ordered by the Court here that the Sher of Kent County keep y.e afd James Watson in Safe Custody untill he Shall Satisfie the four fold Amounting to forty Shill.s Curr.t money and Seaven hundred and Seventy Seaven pounds of Tob.o Costs in y.e Judgment afd Specified And now here afterwards to wit y.e Day & year afd Comes into Court y.e Doct.r W.m Humes prosecut.r for his Lordship and relinquishes y.e four fold in y.e Judgm.t afd Specified thereupon y.e s.d Ja.s Watson is therefrom acquitted Ordered by the Court here that the afd James Watson Enter into Recognizance with good Security for his appearance at next Court and Good Behaviour and that the Sher of Kent County keep him the s.d James in Safe Custody untill he Shall Enter as afd Thereupon James Watson of Kent County planter present here in Court in his proper person doth acknowledge himself Indebted unto the Lord prop.ry of this province of Maryland in the Sume of twenty pounds Sterling Money of great Brittain to be Leveyed of his goods and Chattles Lands and tenements for theme of the s.d Lord prop.ry his heirs and Successors Conditionally that if he Shall not make his personall appearance before the Justices of our next County Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third Teusday of June next and if that in the mean time he Shall not be of Good Behav.r wherewith y.e said James Watson doth Acknowledge himself to be Content also Robert Green and John Wilson both of Kent County and present here in Court in their proper persons Acknowledge themselves Indebted unto the Lord prop.ry of this province of Maryland in the Sume of ten pounds Sterling money of Great Brittain Each to be Leveyed of their goods and |
