    Ordered by the Court here that a Warrant be Issued Immediatly against James
Watson at his Lordships Suit Which was accordingly Done and Returned Cepi
Corpus p Jn.o Gresham Sherr

 Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Honourable the
Lord prop.ry that now is for Kent County afd upon their
oath Do present that Margaret Murry late of S.t pauls
parish in the County afd the Servant of Henry Culley the tenth Day of August Anno
Dom Seventeen hundred and twenty Six at the parish afd in the County afd within
the Jurisdiction of this Court Did Commit fornication with a Certain person to the
Jurors afd unknown and Did permit the Same unknown person then and there to
have Carnal knowledge of her Body and to beget then and there a Bastard Child in
the body of her the Same Margaret to the high Displeasure of Almighty God
to y.e Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of
the said Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule and Government and against the
the form of the Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided

    On y.e back of y.e preceeding Indictment was as foll.s viz.t A true Bill Sam.l
Groome fforeman

    And the afd Margaret Murry in her proper person Comes and Defend Saith that
She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor but
that She is guilty of the premisses above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictm.t
it is alledged and thereupon Submits to y.e Court Therefore it is Considered by
by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County
this twenty fourth Day of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty
Sixth at the said Margaret Murry Receive at the publick whipping post twenty
five Lashes well laid on her Bare Back till the Blood appear as a punishment
for her afd Crime of Committing fornication in form afd Confest as also that
She pay the Sume of two hundred and thirty Seaven pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing
on y.e premisses afd to the officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here at this Day to wit the Day and year last mentioned that
the Sher of Kent County take the afd Margaret Murry into his Custody and
Execute the punishment in the Judgment afd Specified And afterwards to bring
her into Court again of which precept the said Sher to wit John Gresham
Gent. high Sher of Kent County makes Return on the Day and year afd that
he hath Executed the said Judgment and also hath here the said Margaret
Murry before y.e Court

    Ordered by the Court here that Henry Culley Master to y.e afd Margaret Murry
be allowed four hundred pounds of Tob.o in next Levey for trouble and Disgrace
of his house in bringing y.e said Margaret Murry to bed of y.e afd Child and two
hundred pounds of Tob.o for keeping y.e s.d Child to this time
