Indebted unto the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry of the province of Maryland
&c.a in the sume of twenty pounds Sterling Money of Great Brittain each
to be made and Leveyed of their Goods and Chattles Lands and Tenements
for the use of the said Lord prop.ry his heirs and Successors Conditionally
that if the afd Charles Smith Shall not make his personal appearance
before the Justices of the next March Court to be held for Talbot County afd
at the Court house afd to Answer unto what Shall be objected against him
on Suspicion of feloniously Stealing a horse of the Goods and Chattles
of the afd Tench Francis And that if in the mean time he Shall not be
of Good Behaviour wherewith the same John Clayton and Robert Meckey
are Content

    Ordered by the Court here that Tench Francis afd enter into Recognizance
for his appearance at next March Court to be held for Talbot County at y.e
Court house in said County as a prosecutor against the afd Charles Smith
Thereupon Tench Francis of Kent County Gent. present here in Court in
his proper person Doth Acknowledge himself Indebted unto the Right Honourable
the Lord prop.ry of this province of Maryland &c.a In the Sume of
twenty pounds Sterling money of Great Brittain to be made & Leveyed of his
Goods & Chattles Lands and Tenements for the use of the said Lord prop.ry
his heirs and Successors Conditionally that if he Shall not make his
personal appearance before the Justices of the next March Court to be held
for Talbot County ^at y.e Court house in said County^ to prosecute on his said Lordships behalf the afd Charles
Smith on Suspicion of feloniously Stealing a horse of the Goods and
Chattles of him the said Tench Francis wherewith the said Tench Francis
Doth Acknowledge himself to be Content

Tench Francis Gent Clerk of ^the^ Indictments of this
Court Informs the same Court of the afd Charles that
he hath Entered and passed bad Gold and that he
might be ordered to Answer y.e Same On which
John Gresham gent. Sherf of the said County brings the afd Charles on
Suspicion afd who is Sett to the Barr And on which a Certain William
Carman is Sworn and Saith that the afd Charles Did uter and pass unto
him at his house in Queen Anns County two peaces of Gold which appeared
to him to be bad as also two others that be offered them to who refused
the takeing them Saying they were not Gold

    On the Court hereing the Same the afd Sherf is ordered to keep him
the said Charles in safe Custody untill he Shall give Good Security for
