gave the Same Eliz.a all the admonition and Necessary Cautions requisite in
Such Cases not to Endanger her Soul, by takeing a false oath nor wrongfully
hurt any person by a false Charge, after all which the Same Eliz.a on y.e afd
Eleventh Day of Nov.r afd in the Co.ty afd took her Corporal oath upon the
holy Evangilist of Almighty God before the Same Justice of Peace that
the afd W.m Humphrys was the Real Father and Begetter of the afd
Base born Child Notwithstanding w.ch oath and the Severall Declaracons
Confessions and Acknowledgem.ts of her y.e Same Eliz.a She the Same Eliz.a
without any Just Cause or Reason but purely by ^the^ Seducem.t of the Devill the
ffather of vice & Evill afterward at the March Court for the afd County appeared
before the Same Court and then and there being Admitted to Declare who was
the begetter of the afd Base born Child Did then and there last said upon
her Corporal oath administered in open Court Declare and Swear that
the afd John Evans yo.r pet.r was the ffather thereof whereupon the
Grand Jury for the body of the Same County to y.e great Surprize of y.e more
thinking Sort of men found upon Such her oath in Court as afd without
any other Evidence y.e Bill of Indictment afd against yo.r pet.r as being
the ffather & begetter of the afd Bastard Child w.ch the Same Eliz.a often
before had not only owned but Swore to be y.e Child of the afd W.m Humphrys
w.ch Same W.m its very Notorious frequently us'd the Company of her the
Same Eliz.a at unseasonable hours and as it is Suppos'd being Conscious
of his Guilt and Dreading the Damage that might arise from the
Consequence of his Intimacy with her ran away & were Since heared of
to y.e knowledge of yo.r pet.r which flying is as yo.r pet.r is advised a most
Strong and Violent Circumstance of Guilt Further your pet.r Shews
your Hon.r that the Same Eliz.a is a Servant for Some time to a person in y.e
County afd near Neighbour of yo.r pet.rs who purchast her of yo.r pet.r and
that if yo.r pet.r Should take a tryall upon his plea of Non Cul. & be acquitted
by his County as theres not any Doubt but he would get the Same Elizabeths
Circumstances Such and So mean that yo.r pet.r stands no Chance for his
Charges and Costs in & about that Suit laid out and expended tho as he is
advised no better Action can be then he might have against her for Such
Malitious wicked & wrongfull prosecution were She able or in a Condition to
to repay his Damages but as the Case is Such a prosecution against her
would be only Still Burthening your pet.r with a further load of Charges
