Mary Burymon
A writt haveing Issued against the s.d Mary at his
Lordships Suit to answer unto an Indictment found
against her ^for^ fornication the Sher of Kent County
to whome y.e said writt was Directed Makes Return there of to this Court here in
the third Teusday of June being the twenty first Day of s.d Month Anno Dom.
Seventeen hundred and twenty Six the Day of Return of s.d writt Endorst
as foll.s viz.t Non Est Inventa p Fred.k Hanson Sher

    Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now is
for the Body of Kent County afd upon their oaths Do present that Mary
Burymon late of S.t Pauls parish in the County afd Spinster the first Day
of October Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and five at S.t pauls
parish afd in Kent County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Comit
fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors afd unknown & Did permit
the Same unknown person then and there to have Carnal Knowledge of her
body and to begett then and there a bastard Child on the Body of her y.e Same
Mary to the high Displeasure of Almighty God to y.e Evill Example of
all others in Such Case offending Contrary to y.e peace of y.e s.d Lord prop.ry
that now is his Good Rule and Government and against the form of the Act
of Assembly in that Case made and provided         T francis Cler. pac.

    On the Back of y.e preceeding Indictment was as foll.s viz.t
a true bill p Sam.l Wickes foreman

    And the afd Mary Burymon in her proper person Comes and Saith that She
Cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd So as afd against her brought nor Can
She Say but that She is Guilty of the premisses above upon ^her^ Imposed as by
the afd Indictment it is alledged and Thereupon Submits to y.e Court Therefore
it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in said County this twenty first Day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen
hundred and twenty Six that the s.d Mary Burymon Receive at y.e publick
whipping post fifteen Lashes well laid on her Bare Back till the Blood
appear as a punishment for her afd Crime of Committing fornication in
form afd Confest as also that She pay the Sume of two hundred & fifty
Eight pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on y.e premisses afd to y.e officers of
this Court
