134                                March Court 1725

Court here on the third Teusday of March being the fifteenth Day of
s.d Month Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty five the Day
of Return of s.d writt Endorst as foll.s viz.t Cepi Corpus p Fred.k Hanson Sherf

    Kent County fs.t The Jurors for the Right Hon.ble the Lord prop.ry that now
is for the body of Kent County afd upon their oath do present that Kath.a
Shaw of Shrewsbury parish in the County afd Spinster the tenth Day
of Aprill Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty five at the
parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court
Did Commit fornication with a Certain person to y.e Jurors afd unknown
and Did permit the Same unknown person then and there to have
Carnal knowledge of her body and to begett then and there a bastard
Child on the body of her the Same Kath.a Shaw to y.e high Displeasure
of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others in Such
Case offending Contrary to the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry that now
is his Good Rule and Government and against the form of the
Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided &c

    On the Back of y.e afd Indictment was as foll.s viz.t
   
    A true Bill by W.m Crow foreman

    And the afd Katherin Shaw in her proper person Comes and Saith
that She Cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against her
brought nor but that She is Guilty of the premisses above upon her
Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged and thereupon
Submitts to the Court  Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
afd here to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester in s.d County
this fifteenth Day of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred &
twenty five that the afd Katherin Shaw pay the Sume of Six
hundred pounds of Tobacco a fine for her afd offence of Comitting
fornication in form afd Confest to the use of this County of Kent
according to Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided as also
the Sume of three hundred and thirty three pounds of Tobacco Costs
accrueing on the premisses afd to the officers of this Court
