the tenth Day of September Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty
five at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this
Court in and upon a Certain William Brown on the peace of God
and of the said Lord prop.ry then and there being with force and Arms
as Assault Did make and him the s.d W.m Brown then and there
Did beat wound and Evilly treat so that of his life it was much
Dispa^i^red and other harms to him then and there Did to y.e Great
Damage of y.e s.d W.m Brown and against y.e peace of y.e said
Lord prop.ry that now is his Good rule and Government &c
                                                                    T Francis Clk pac.

    On the Back of y.e afd Indictm.t was as foll.s
            A true bill by W.m Crow foreman

    And the afd John Johnson in his proper person Comes and Saith
that he Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against him
brought nor but that he is guilty of the premisses above upon him
Imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged & thereupon Submitt
to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to witt
at the Court house in the Town of Chester in s.d County this fifteenth
Day of March Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred & twenty
five that the afd John Johnson pay ^to y.e Lord prop.ry of this province^ the Sume of two hundred pounds
of Tobacco as a fine for his afd offence of Committing an assault
and Battery as also the Sume of two hundred and Sixty five
pounds of Tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the
officers of this Court

    Ordered by the Court here to wit the Day & year afd that the Sher
of Kent County keep him the s.d John Johnson In Safe Custody
untill he Shall Satisfie the fine & fees in the Judgment afd in the
whole amounting to four hundred and Sixty five pounds of Tob.o
