    The Grand Jury Returns and Delivers to the Court the following psentm.ts
which they are willing Should be Altered not touching matter of Substance
which are his Lordship against John Johnson for an Assault Thomas
Foster for fornication and Tho.s Sinson for fornication

the Lord prop.ry that now is for the body of Kent County
afd upon their Oath Do prevent that W.m Mackey
late of Saint pauls parish in the County afd Labourer the first Day of Nov.br
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred twenty and five at the parish afd in the
County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain
Henry Gordon in the peace of God and of the s.d Lord prop.ry then and
there being With force and Arms an assault Did Make and him the
s.d Henry Gordon then and there Did beat wound and evilly treat so that
of his Life it was much Dispared and other harms to him then
and there Did to the great Damage of the y.e s.d Henry Gordon and against
the peace of the s.d Lord prop.ry that now is his good Rule & Dignity &c.a

            On the back of y.e preceeding Indictment was Endorst as foll.s viz.t
as true bill by W.m Crowe foreman

    And the afd W.m Mackey pleads not Guilty and for Tryable putts
himselfe upon y.e Country

    And he who followeth for the Lord prop.ry says his Guilty
                                                                T francis p Lord prop.ry

    And the afd W.m Mackey afterwards to wit the Day and year last menconed
Comes into Court and Relinquishes the plea afd and saith that he Can not gain
say the Indictment ^afd^ so as afd against ^him^ brought nor but that he is guilty of the
premisses above upon him imposed as by the afd Indictment it is alledged &
thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here
to wit at the Court house in the Town of Chester in s.d County this Nineteenth
Day of November Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and twenty five that y.e
afd W.m Mackey pay the Sume of fifty pounds of Tobacco as a fine for his afd
offence of Committing an assault in form afd Confest as also that he pay the
Sume of two hundred and Eighty three pounds of Tob.o Costs accrueing on
the premisses afd by y.e officers of this Court
