1832. RESOLUTIONS.

it is represented to this General Assembly, by the heirs and
representatives of the securities of the said William Bar-
row, that they are anxious to have the State's claim settled,
or to be released from any further responsibility as securi-
ties; AND WHEREAS, the heirs and representatives of the
said William Barrow, are willing, nay, they are even desir-
ous, to have the said claim settled as early as practicable,
consistent with the interests of all concerned; they there-
fore pray the Legislature to authorize the said William D.
Barrow, or some other person, to be by them appointed, to
sell the said land, at.some early day, upon such credit as
be or they may believe best calculated to promote their in-
terests; and that the State will not force the land to be
sold at sheriff's sale, at great cost and sacrifice of their in-
terest, when there is no urgent reason to do so—There-
fore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William D. Barrow, be, and he is hereby authorized
and required to sell said land, as early as practicable, upon
such terms, and at such credit, as he may believe best cal-
culated to promote the interests of the parties concerned;
Provided, that whenever the said William D. Barrow shall
have made the sale of the said land, the Attorney General
shall be authorized and required to take a bond or bonds
from the purchaser or purchasers, with such securities, and
at such credit, as he may approve, for the whole amount of
the State's claim against the said William Barrow, deceased.

Resolved, That if the said William D. Barrow, shall fail
to make the sale, as provided herein, before the first day of
July next, then the Attorney General shall proceed to col-
lect the said claim, in the same manner as if these resolu-
tions had never passed.

Resolved, That whenever the whole of the purchase mo-
ney shall have been paid, the State shall forthwith give to
the purchaser a good and sufficient right and title to the
said land.

Resolution relative to procuring two swords, one be pre-
sented to Col. Nathan Towson, of the United States
Army, and one. to Capt. J. Gallagher, of the U. S. Navy.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
his excellency the Governor be, and he is hereby requested
