No. 60.

1832.

Resolution in favour of Mary Chapman, of Georgetown,
District of Columbia.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Treasurer of the Western Shore, pay to Mary Chap-
man of Georgetown, District of Columbia, in considera-
tion of services rendered by her deceased husband, Henry
H. Chapman, a Lieutenant in the revolutionary war, or to
her order, during widow-hood, in quarter yearly payments,
a sum of money equal to the half pay of a Lieutenant

No. 61.


Resolution relative to a Geological Survey.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor and Council be, and they are hereby author-
ised to appoint an assistant to the Engineer to be appoint-
ed on the subject of a State Map, whose duty it shall be
to act in conjunction with said Engineer, and the said as-
sistant shall make the necessary geological researches, and
report to the Governor and Council before the next session
of the General Assembly, upon the expediency, and pro-
bable cost of a Geological survey of the state; and the
Governor and Council shall allow such compensation for
the services to be rendered under this resolution, as in
their judgment they may deem just and proper.

Resolution in favour of the heirs and representatives of the
securities of William Barrow, deceased, late of Dorches-
ter county.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
by the petition of William D. Barrow, in behalf of the heirs
and representatives of William Barrow, deceased, that the
State holds a claim against them, for a tract of land, being
a part of the Indian land, in Dorchester county, which was
purchased by William Barrow, deceased; AND WHEREAS,
