CHAP. 145.

Accountability.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said managers
shall be held accountable to the said county commissioners
for the respective sums of money so put in their hands,
for the faithful expenditure thereof in the erection of said
bridge, and a majority of them in all cases shall be suffi-
cient to form a board.


CHAPTER 144.

Passd Feb. 25. 1833

An act to divorce Mary Elizabeth Stewart, of the City of
Baltimore, from her husband, William S. Stewart, a
mensa et thoro.

Divorce.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Mary Elizabeth Stewart, of the city of
Baltimore, be and she is hereby declared to be divorced
from her husband William S: Stewart, a mensa et thoro.

Liability annulled.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said William S.
Stewart shall not be liable for any debt hereafter to be con-
tracted by said Elizabeth, nor be entitled to any property
which she may hereafter acquire; and said Elizabeth shall
be capable in law and equity, to every effect, intent, and
purpose, to take, hold, sell, and dispose of, any property,
and make and be bound by any contracts or engagements,

Feme sole

as if she were a feme sole, and had never been married;
Provided, however, that nothing herein contained shall au-
thorize said Elizabeth to contract marriage during the life
of said William.


CHAPTER 145.

Passed Mar.6, 1833

A Supplement to an act, entitled, "an act relating to the
People of Colour in this State," passed at December ses-
sion, eighteen hundred and thirty-one, chapter two hundred
and eighty-one.

On notification of

refusal to remove

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That whenever the board of managers, ap-
pointed under the act to which this is a supplement, shall
