power and authority as constables now have under the ex-
isting laws of this State.

CHAP 2

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That said commissioners shall
keep the public roads, lying within the limits of said town,
in good repair, and the bailiff or other person appointed by
them for that purpose, shall have and possess all the powers
that overseers of the public roads now have provided that
nothing contained in this section shall be so construed as to
give any power without the corporate limits of said town
and provided further, that it does not interfere with, or af-
fect the present powers oi the county overseers of the pub-
lic roads, in Dorchester county

CHAPTER 62

Road, &c.

An act to regulate the compensation of Jurors, in Talbot
County

Passed Feb. 10, 1835

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That each and every juror hereafter to be summoned on
the regular pannel of jurors, to the County Court of Talbot
county, shall be entitled to receive for each day in which he
shall attend as a juror, the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per
day, and in addition thereto, an allowance of six and a
quarter cents per mile, for every mile that his place of resi-
dence shall be distant from the place of holding the County
Court for Talbot county, to be levied, collected, and paid
in the same manner and at the same time with his per diem
allowance, and he shall be ent tied to receive mileage for
each day such juror attends the court

Pay and mileage

Sec 2 And be it enacted, That nothing contained in
this act shall be construed to allow any juror mileage in re
turning to his residence during the time such juror shall be
required to attend the County Courts of said county

Exception

Sec 3 And be it enacted That it shall he the duty of the
sheriff summoning such jurors, to note upon the list of jurors
before he returns the same to the clerk of the County Court,
the distance each juror summoned, resides from the place of

holding the County Court, and the said clerk shall return a
copy of such list of jurors, with the distance of their re-
spective places of residence, to the commissioners of Talbot
county, to enable them to make out the levy as aforesaid

Clerks duty

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent
