JAMES THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1834.

Sec 5 And be it enacted, That each of the commis-
sioners shall be entitled to receive two dollars for each and
every day he may be employed in carrying into effect the
duties devolved upon them by this act, which several sums,
together with all other necessary expenses incurred by them,
shall be taken and estimated as part of the expenses of
opening the aforesaid streets

CHAP 314.

Compensator

Sec 6 And be it enacted, That in case any vacancy
should occur in the board of commissioners hereinbefore
appointed, from any cause, the Major of Baltimore city be,
and he is hereby authorised and empowered to fill such va
cancy by the appointment of others

Vacancy

Sec 7 And be it enacted, That the provisions of this act
shall be of no force or effect, unless approved by the Mayor

Assent required

and City Council of Baltimore, notice of the application :
made for such approval being first given for at least two
weeks in all the newspapers of the city of Baltimore

CHAPTER 314

An act to divorce Ann Chapman and Job Chapman.

Passed Mar 20, 1835

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland ,
That Ann Chapman be, and she is hereby divorced from
bed, board and mutual cohabitation, with her husband
Job Chapman of Baltimore county, and that the said Ann
shall have and exercise all the rights, privileges, and immu-
nities, and be subject to all the legal responsibilities of a
feme sole, excppt that of marrying again, in the same man-
ner as she would have been if she had never been married,
and that the said Job Chapman shall not, by virtue of his
marriage with the said Ann, be in any manner entitled to
or authorised to have or claim any right, title, or interest,
in the estate, real, personal, or mixed, of the said Ann,
whether acquired or devised to the said Ann prior to, or to
be acquired or received by her after the passage of this act,
nor shall she claim any right, title, or interest, in the estate,
real, personal, or mixed, of the said Job Chapman, whether
acquired by the said Job Chapman prior to, or to be ac-
quired by him after the passage of this act, and that neither
the said Job, nor the said Ann, shall be liable for any debt
that may be herealter contracted by the other.
