1834.

Bridges, is not sufficient to vent the water which often flows
down, and also that the said Bridge is in bad order, I here
fore

CHAP 262.

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, Thnt the levy courts of Queen Anne's and Caroline
counties, be and they are hereby authorised and required to

levy, each, an equal sum, not to exceed in the whole amount
exclusive of the per diem of the commissioners, the sum of
one hundred dollars, (on condition that the paid levy courts,
or a majority of each of them agree that they believe the

public interest requires the same, and not otherwise) for the
purpose of erecting one new bridge, or to lengthen and re
pair the present one, at the discretion of the commissioners
hereinafter named

Object

Sec 2. And be it enacted, That Colonel James Roe,
James Merrick, and Thomas Bewley, of Queen Anne's coun-
ty, and Parratt Roe, William S Booker, and William
Clough, of Caroline county, be, and they are hereby ap.
pointed commissioners to contract for and superintend the
building or repairing of said bridge

Commissioners

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That the levy to be made by
the provisions of this act, shall stand to the credit of said
commissioners, for the purpose herein mentioned, on the
levy list of the respective counties, who shall, and they are
hereby authorised to draw on the respective collectors of the
county tax, for the amount so levied

Disposition

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That the said commission
ers or superintendents, appointed in virtue of the second
section of this act, shall each be entitled to the sum of two
dollars, for every day's attendance as such, for which an
account shall be rendered to the respective levy courts,
with an affidavit thereon, to be by them levied and collected
as other county charges are.

CHAPTER 262.

An act to ratify, confirm, and make valid, certain acts and
deeds, done and executed by William H Fitzhugh, as
Sheriff of Washington County.

Passed Mar. 20, 1835

WHEREAS, there is a doubt entertained, whether William
H Fitzhugh, at the time of his havrng become Sheriff of
