to by the members, previously to the passage of this act,
and shall be entitled to hold their offices until an election
shall be made by the members, as is herein directed

CHAP 172

Sec 3 And be it enacted, That the members of the Phi-
locretan Society of Baltimore, shall meet on the first Monday
in April next, at such place and hour as the President of
the said Society shall appoint, and a majority of the mem-
bers assembled at such time and place shall have power,

and are hereby authorised, to pass such by laws as they
may think necessary to specify what officers shall be
chosen quarterly for the Society, and there powers and
duties, to prescribe the manner of tilling vacancies, of the
admission and expulsion of members and, in general, to
provide for conducting and managing the business of the
said Society and for exercising all the powers, rights, and
privileges, granted or authorised by this act, for the pur
poses hereinbefore mentioned, in as full and ample a manner
as any other corporate body might or could do

By laws

Sec 4 And be it enacted, That a majority of the mem
bers, which shall be present at each meeting of tins Society,
shall have power to alter, repeal, revise, and amend, all or
any of the by laws which shall he made as aforesaid, and to
make others, which shall be subject to like repeal and re
vision, Provided, that such by la. vs shall not be inconsistent
with this charter, nor in contradiction to the laws of this
State

Alterations

Sec 5 And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed as to confer any Banking privileges on the
Corporation hereby incorporated

Sec 6 And be it enacted That this act shall continue
and be in force until the year eighteen hundred and fifty,
and until the end of the next General Assembly which shall
be held thereafter, unless the same shall sooner be repealed
by the General Assembly of this State, which power to
repeal is hereby reserved

An act for the benefit of William Green of the State of
Virginia

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
