CHAPTER 104.

CHAP. 104.

An act authorising Henry Shafer, George Shafer, and Henry
J. Shafer, to distribute their estate by lot.

Passed Feb. 17, 1835

Section 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary.
land, That Henry Shafer, George Shafer, and Henry 5.
Shafer, of Washington county, shall be, and they are hereby
authorised to make a public sale or distribution of their
real and personal estate, in part or the whole, in said county,

by lot or chance, Provided, they shall grant their said real
and personal estate so to be disposed of, by lot or chance,
to Alexander Neill, senior, and William C. Drury, in trust,
to be conveyed by them, the survivor or survivors of them,
to the person or persons who shall become entitled thereto,
conformably to the distribute on which shall be made thereof
by chance or lot, under the superintendence of said trustees,
the survivor or survivors of them.

Condition

Sec. 2 And be it enacted, That Andrew Kershner, Tho-
mas Kellar, and Daniel Schnebly, be commissioners to value
said property, before it is disposed of, and that the parties
petitioning, shall pay the usual expenses allowed to ap-
praisers valueing the same.

Sec 3 And be it further enacted, That this act shall con-
tinue in force for two years after the passage thereof, and
no longer.

Limitation

Sec. 4 And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall
be so construed, as to interfere with any contracts for lotte-
ries now in existence, nor with any law relative to such
lotteries

Sec 6 And be it enacted, That the said Henry Shafer,
George Shaler, and Henry J Shafer, shall be required to
execute their bond to the State of Maryland, for double the
value of said real and personal property, with sufficient se-
curity, to be approved by the Treasurer of the Western
Shore, conditioned for the payment into the Treasury of the
Western Shore, before the drawing of the said Lottery, a
tax of the per centum on the value of said estate
