CHAP. 69.

Property acquired

after passage of act

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Isaac Howell
shall not, by virtue of his marriage with the said Eliza
Howell, be authorised to have or claim any right or inte-
rest in the estate, real, personal or mixed, of the said Eliza
Howell, to be by her acquired after the passage of this act;
nor shall Eliza Howell be authorised to have or claim any
right or interest in the estate, real, personal or mixed, of
the said Isaac Howell, to be by him acquired after the pas-
sage of this act.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Eliza Howell
shall have and exercise all the rights, privileges and immu-
nities, and be subject to all the legal responsibilities of
a feme sole, except that of marrying again, in the same
manner she would have been, if she had never been mar-
ried.

Entitled to guar-

dianship of her

child

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid Eliza How-
ell be, and she is hereby declared to be, entitled to the
custody and guardianship of her child by her present mar-
riage, during its minority.

I Howell not liable

for debts hereafter

contracted by her

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Isaac Howell
shall not be liable for any debt to be hereafter contracted by
the said Eliza Howell.

CHAP. LXX.

Passed Feb 20,1829

An Act to make valid certain Proceedings of Thomas H.
Hicks, late Sheriff and Collector of Dorechester coun-
ty.

Proceeding made

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That after the passage of this act, all the acts and
proceedings of Thomas H. Hicks, late collector of the coun-
ty charges for said county for the years eighteen hundred
and twenty-five, eighteen hundred and twenty-six, and eigh-
teen hundred and twenty-seven, be and the same are hereby
ratified, confirmed and made valid, to all intents and pur-
poses, it! as full and ample a manner as if the said Thomas
H. Hicks had taken and subscribed the several oaths and de-
clarations required by law of him, and that he be fully au-
thorised to finish his collections for county charge in said
county, in as full and ample a manner, as any other collector
of county charges could or would be authorised to do, who
had regularly qualified to do so in similar cases.
