CHAP. 42.

they are hereby authorised, to levy on the assessable pro-
perty of said county, in addition to the sum authorised by
the original act to which this is a supplement, a sum of mo-

ney not exceeding one hundred dollars, for the purpose of
building a roof over the bridge mentioned in said act; Pro-
vided, that before such levy shall be made, the levy court
shall believe it advantageous to the county to have a roof
erected over said bridge.

An Additional Supplement to an Act, entitled, An act
for the appointment of Commissioners for the re-
gulation and improvement of Cambridge in Dor-
chester County, and to establish and regulate a Mar-
ket in said Town.

Preamble

WHEREAS by a supplement to said act, passed at Decem-
ber session eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter two
hundred and three, section four, the commissioners of
Cambridge were invested with authority to appoint an

whereas this exclusive jurisdiction has proved experimen-
tally defective; therefore,

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That the person appointed by the commissioners
of the town of Cambridge, overseer of the streets and al-
leys in said town shall, for not keeping in good repair the
said streets and alleys, and any other road of which he has
the legal superintendence, be liable to be proceeded against,
fined and punished, in the same manner that overseers of
the public roads in Dorchester county are proceeded against,
fined and punished, for not keeping their respective roads
in good repair; Provided, nothing herein contained shall
be construed to exempt, in other respects, said overseer
from the control and jurisdiction of said commissioners.

CHAP. XLIV.

An Act for the relief of jinn Gilder, of Queen-Anne's
County.

Marriage annulled

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
marriage contract between Ann Gilder and Henry Gilder,
is hereby declared to be annulled and destroyed, and
the said Ann Gilder is hereby declared to be divorced from
