CHAPTER 77.
An act to incorporate the Swan Creek Paradise School of Harford
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by
the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Daniel Michael, Hanson Courtney, John Bennett,
Joseph Ford, Thomas Everett, Cyrus Courtney, Elizabeth
Mitchell, Benjamin Cole, Edward Jackson, Elenor Taylor,
William Mitchell, James Einst, John W. Cronan, William
Arnold, Mary Miller, John Barnes, William Mitchell of Thomas,
Charles H. Giles, Benedict E. Mitchell, William Hartshorn,
James Cashea, Daniel Mitchell, James Everest of Thomas,
Martin T. Gilbert, Jonas Cole, James Cole, James Mitchell,
Paca Smith, Bennet Flitcher,] Carpenter Fletcher, Samuel
Fletcher, Robert Cloeman and John Cronan, and such other
persons as now are or may hereafter become subscribers, and
their successors, be, and they are hereby declared to be a body
corporate and politic, by the name, style and title, of the
' Swan Creek Paradise School, of Harford county,' and by the
same name shall have perpetual succession, and shall be able
to sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, in any court of
law or equity, in this state or elsewhere, and to make and have
a common seal, and the same to break, alter or renew at their
pleasure; and also, to ordain and establish such by laws and
ordinances, as shall appear necessary for regulating the concerns
of said school, and for promoting literature within the
same, not being repugnant to the laws of this state.

Created a corporation
and body politic.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted,
That the aforesaid members and
their successors, by the same name, shall be able and capable
in law to purchase, have and enjoy, to them and their successors
in fee, or any other less estate or estates, any lands,
tenements, annuities, pensions, or other hereditaments within
this state, by the gift, grant, bargain, sale, alienation, enfeoffment,
release or confirmation of any person or persons, bodies
corporate or politic, capable to make the same; and such lands,
tenements, rents, annuities, pensions or other hereditaments
or any less estates, rights or interests of, or in the same, at
their pleasure, to grant, alien, sell and transfer in such manner
and form as they shall think meet and convenient, for the furtherance
of the objects of the said society; Provided nevertheless,
