1829.                                                                              LAWS OF MARYLAND.

  CHAP. 55.  
executor of William Tilghman, deceased, has full power and
authority to sell out of this state for their respective terms of
service, the following negroes, viz:  Rachel, George, Shadrack,
Nancy, Thomas, Julia, Benjamin, Mary, Frederick,
Margaret, Martha, Ann, Nancy, Sarah, Samuel, Maria, Samuel,
son of Rachel, Abraham, Charlotte, Rebecca, Rachel,
daughter of Esther, Joseph and Harry, slaves for a term of
years, to any person or persons in the state of Delaware, who
have or may obtain permission from the legal authorities of
that state to remove them into it, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.
    Conditions prescribed.
    Sec. 2.  [ ]  And the said Benjamin Chew, jun. is required
to take from the purchaser or purchasers, a bond, in a penalty
of one thousand dollars, with good and sufficient security, residing
in this state, with condition that said negroes shall not
be removed out of the state of Delaware during their term
of service; and said bond shall be recorded in the clerk's office
of Queen Anne's county court; and the said Benjamin
Chew, jun. named in this act, or his heirs, executors or administrators,
shall have power to demand a certified copy of
the same, upon which he or they, or either of them, may
maintain an action in any county court of this state, and the
damages recovered, after paying all the expenses of said action,
shall be held in trust by the person so recovering, for the
use and benefit of the negro or negroes removed from the said
state of Delaware, and so much of said damages as may be necessary,
shall be used in recovering and bringing back the
negro or negroes removed.

                                        CHAPTER 55.

An act to preserve the Side Walks in the village of Liberty, in
                                     Frederick county.

Prohibition.
    Section 1.  Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall not
be lawful for any person or persons to ride, drive or lead any
horse, or drive any team, carriage or other vehicle whatever,
upon any pavement on the side walks in said village or its
limits.
Penalty.
    Sec. 2.  And be it enacted, That if any person or persons,
after the passage of this act, shall ride, drive or lead any
horse, or drive any team, carriage or other vehicle whatsoever,
upon any pavement, on the side walks in said village or its
limits, such person or persons so offending, shall forfeit and
pay for each and every offence, the sum of two dollars, to be
recovered in the name of the state of Maryland, before any
justice of the peace, as other small debts are recovered, and
