Costs, without remuneration, inasmuch as he had discharged
the duties incumbent on him in the apprehension of said
Henry Camper; therefore,

CHAP. 22.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That upon the production to the levy court of Ca-
roline county, of a receipt by the said Thomas Burchenal,
that he hath paid the amercement and costs aforesaid, the said
levy court are hereby authorised and instructed to levy on
the assessable property of said county, for the use of said
Thomas Burchenal, the amount which it shall appear to
them he has paid by reason of the premises.

CHAP. XXIII.

An Act to continue in force the Acts of Assembly which
would expire with the present Session.

Passed Feb 7, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That all such acts and parts of acts, as would ex-
pire with the present session of assembly, be and the same
are hereby continued to the last Monday of December next,
and to the end of the then session of assembly.

An Act to Incorporate the Maryland and Virginia
Steam-Boat Company.

Passed Jan 21, 1829

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Ma
ryland, That William Lorman, James Ferguson, Hugh
W. Evans, Luke Tiernan, Baptist Mezick, Robert H. Os-
good, John Franciscus, Evan T. Ellicott, Hugh Boyle,
Joel Vickers, John B. Howell, John S. Donnell, Joseph
King, junior, and John S. M'Kim, their associates, succes-
sors and assigns, be and are hereby created and declared to
be incorporated as a body politic, under the name and style
of The Maryland and Virginia Steam-Boat Company, and
by that name shall be capable to sue and be sued in any
court of law or equity ; to have and use a common seal,

sure, and use at their discretion; and generally to have and
enjoy, as a corporate body, the powers, rights and privi-
leges, of exercising all such acts as shall be proper and ne-
cessary for the purpose of establishing, conducting and con-
tinuing, aline or lines of steam-boat vessels, and stages, or
Other conveyances and carriages, for transportation of pas-
sengers, merchandise, and other articles to, and for towing
ships and vessels between the cities of Baltimore, Norfolk,
Richmond and Petersburg, or any other place or places
