ately after Section 4B, and to be known as Section 4C, and to
read as follows:
SECTION 4C. For the year 1920, and thereafter, all property
whatsoever, real or personal, and the rents, issues, and income
thereof, owned or acquired by the Veterans of Foreign Wars
of the United States chartered by special Act of Congress and
The American Legion, a body corporate chartered be an Act
of the Congress of the United States, approved the 16th day
of September, 1919, or any department, state or local unit,
branch or post thereof, incorporated or unincorporated, shall
be exempt from State, county and municipal taxation.

CHAPTER 429.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (revised edition of 1915),
title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Police Commission-
ers," said new section to be known as Section 745 1/2 A and
to follow immediately after Section 745 1/2 of said Article,
providing for additional members of the police force of
Baltimore City.
WHEREAS, Over sixty square miles of territory were added
to the City of Baltimore by Chapter 82 of the Acts of 1918;
and
WHEREAS, A sufficient number of patrolmen were not pro-
vided for in this Act properly to patrol this new territory;
and
WHEREAS, At the present time the police force of Baltimore
City is not adequate properly to police the city as at present
constituted; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (revised
edition, 1915), title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Police
Commissioners," said new section to be known as Section
745 1/2A, to follow immediately after Section 745 1/2 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
