658 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 379

CHAPTER 379.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 228 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1918, entitled "An Act to es-
tablish a schedule of minimum salaries of elementary and
high school teachers and principals, for Allegany County,
and to require the County Commissioners of Allegany
County to levy a sufficient sum of money annually to put
the same in effect, and to pay the same to the Board of
Education of Allegany County," and to re-enact the
same with amendments for the purpose of increasing such
salaries in Allegany County, Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 228 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1918 be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That no assistant
teacher regularly employed in the Public Schools of Alle-
gany County having a third grade, first class, State ele-
mentary certificate, shall receive an annual salary of less than
eight hundred and sixteen dollars ($816.00) ; provided, if
such teacher has taught one year, such teacher shall receive an
annual salary of not less than eight hundred fifty-two dollars
($852.00), and provided further, if such teacher has taught
two years, such teacher shall receive an annual salary of not
less than nine hundred dollars ($900.00). and provided fur-
ther, if such teacher has taught three years, such teacher shall
receive an annual salary of not less than nine hundred sixty
dollars ($960.00), and provided further, if such teacher has
taught four, five, or six years, such teacher shall receive an
annual salary of not less than ten hundred thirty-two dollars
($1,032.00), and provided further, if such teacher has taught
seven years or over, such teacher shall receive an annual
salary of not less than eleven hundred sixteen dollars
($1,116.00).

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That no assistant
teacher, having a second grade, first class. State elementary
certificate, shall receive an annual salary of less than eight
hundred sixty-four dollars ($864.00) ; provided, if such
teacher has taught one year, such teacher shall receive an
annual salary of not less than nine hundred dollars (900.00),
and provided further, if such teacher has taught two years.
