preservation of the public health and safety.

CHAPTER 371.
AN ACT to increase the compensation of judges, registration
officials and clerks of election in Charles County.
WHEREAS, The increased cost of living has made the pres-
ent compensation allowed election officials of Charles County
inadequate for the services rendered; and
WHEREAS, Adequate compensation should be given for the
time given to the public duties; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That all judges of election and clerks of election of
Charles County when actually sitting as judges of registra-
tion or election and as clerks of election respectively, shall be
allowed and paid three dollars and fifty cents ($3.50) a day;
fractions of a day shall be allowed and paid at the rate of
thirty cents an hour; and 'in all other respects Section 18 of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland, title "Elections," sub-title "Compensation," shall
remain in full force and effect in Charles County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 372.
AN ACT to repeal Chapter 447 of the Acts of 1914, entitled
"An Act to create the office of Sealer of Weights and
Measures for Prince George's County, Maryland, and to
define his duties and compensation, and to repeal, in so
far as the same applies to Prince George's County, Sec-
tion 11 of Chapter 353 of the Acts of 1910, which Chap-
ter repealed and re-enacted with amendments Article 97
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title.
'Weights and Measures,' and to repeal Section 328 of
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land, title 'Prince George's County,' sub-title 'Weights
and, Measures,' and to provide a penalty for the violation
thereof."
