CHAPTER 36.
AN ACT to authorize the Town Commissioners of La Plata,
Maryland, to issue bonds for the purpose of refunding
the present bonded indebtedness of said La Plata, Mary-
land, accruing under any and all Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, which may mature at any time
prior to the first day of July, in the year 1922; to pro-
vide for a sinking fund with which, from time to time,
to pay off said bonded indebtedness; and to authorize
and direct the County Commissioners of Charles County,
or the duly constituted road authorities of said county,
to pay one-half of the annual road fund collected Prom
taxes levied on the taxable property within the corporate
limits of La Plata, to the Town Commissioners of La
Plata, to be expended for street and road improvement
within the limits of said town, and to repeal, and re-enact
with amendments Section 105 of Article 9 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Charles County,"
sub-title "La Plata," as amended by Chapter 518 of the
Acts of 1900, relating to the assessing of property for
town taxes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Town. Commissioners of the town of La Plata,
Charles County, Maryland, be, and they are hereby author-
ized, empowered and directed to issue bonds in sums of not
less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred
dollars, each, to be signed by the President of said Town Com-
missioners and countersigned by the Clerk thereof, not to ex-
ceed in the aggregate the sum of forty-eight hundred dollars
and bearing a rate of interest not exceeding six per centum
per annum, payable semi-annually, on the first days of Janu-
ary and July, in each and every year, according to the tenor
of the. coupons to be attached thereto; the said bonds to be
exempt from all taxation, and the coupons thereon, when due,
to be receivable by the bailiff or treasurer of said La Plata, in
payment of town taxes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said bonds shall
be issued, payable ten years from the date thereof and be
redeemable at any time after the expiration of five years from
the date thereof at the pleasure of said Town Commissioners.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said Town
Commissioners are hereby authorized, empowered and direct-
