SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That said Road Commis-
sioner shall qualify by taking oath of office before the Clerk
of the Circuit Court of Calvert County, that he will faithfully
and diligently execute the office of Road Commissioner for
Calvert County.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That said Road Commis-
sioner shall attend his office at Prince Frederick Town, to be
provided by the County Commissioners, on the second Tuesday
in each month to receive and audit claims for work done and
material furnished during the preceding month and to pay for
same, provided the accounts presented shall correspond with
the records of said Road Commissioner of time made and ma-
terial furnished as hereinafter provided.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That the- said Road
Commissioner shall receive the sum of $1,000 per annum to be
paid by the County Commissioners of Calvert County, pro-
vided the said Road Commissioner shall and will devote all of
his time to the building and repairing of said roads as herein
provided.

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the said Road Com-
missioner shall have charge and control over all of the public
roads of Calvert County, except the State roads, and which
said public roads are to be built and repaired under his super-
vision and control, unless otherwise provided, in such manner
and by such means and methods as may be best suited in his
judgment to produce the best results in the most economical
manner, and the said Road Commissioner shall have charge of
all the bridges in the county, except those on the State road,
and whenever any bridges are to be built or repaired at a cost
exceeding one hundred ($100) dollars, it shall be the duty
of the said Road Commissioner to advertise the same and let
the same to the lowest responsible bidder to be built according
to plans and specifications to be furnished by the said Road
Commissioner, and the County Commissioners shall levy, upon
the written order of the said Road Commissioner at the next
annual levy after the receipt of the order, for the use of the
contractor or contractors, such sums of money as may be re-
quired for the building or repairing of the said bridges as
hereinabove stated, but no amount so levied shall be paid to
any contractor until the Road Commissioner has accepted his
work, and so certified to the County Commissioners, and in
