CHAPTER 205.

AN ACT authorizing the town of Lonaconing to issue bonds
to the extent of six thousand five hundred ($6,500) dol-
lars for the purchase of a new fire apparatus and provid-
ing for a referendum, vote on said bond issue.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of the town of
Lonaeoning are hereby authorized to issue on the credit of said
town coupon bonds to an amount not exceeding six thousand
five hundred ($6,500) dollars for the purchase of new fire
apparatus. Said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and
countersigned by the clerk of said town, bear interest at a
rate not exceeding six per centum, payable semi-annually, July
first and January first each year, and shall be dated July 1,
1920. Said bonds shall be exempt from all State, county and
municipal taxation, and shall be so issued that five hundred
($500) doHars of said bonds shall become due each year. The
Mayor and City Council shall levy each year an amount suffi-
cient to pay the interest on said bonds as it becomes due and
to pay the bonds as and when they become due and payable.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the question of
issuing said bonds shall be submitted to the qualified voters of
the town of Lonaconing at the town election to be held in May,
1920, and upon each ballot there shall be printed the words
"For Bond Issue" and "Against Bond Issue." If a majority
of those voting thereon "shall be in favor of issuing the bonds,
then the bonds may be issued in accordance with the provisions
of Section 2 of this Act, but if a majority shall be against
isssuing said bonds, then the bonds shall not be issued and this
Act shall be null and void.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public safety, and being passed upon a yea
and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly,
the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
