CHAPTER 180.
AN ACT to authorize the Governor of Maryland to appoint a
commission of three persons to confer with a similar com-
mission or authorities of the United States Naval Acad-
emy for the purpose of making plans and specifications
for the disposal of the sewage of Annapolis City and the
vicinity and the United States Naval Academy and other
property of the United States Government in and around
Annapolis and directing the Mayor, Councilor and Alder-
men of the City of Annapolis to pay the reasonable cost
of the same to the City of Annapolis in a sum not to ex-
ceed five hundred dollars.
WHEREAS, The State of Maryland, the City of Annapolis
and the United States Naval Academy and other government
property at Annapolis under the provisions of Chapter 777 of
the Acts of 1914 of the General Assembly of Maryland con-
templated taking steps to rid the waters of the Severn River
and creeks adjacent to Annapolis of the filth and pest of the
sewage entering into the same; and
WHEREAS, This work was, for the time being, interrupted
by the recent war; and
WHEREAS, For the public welfare and health of this com-
munity it is necessary that the work should be speedily done,
as possible, under the direction and at the cost of the govern-
ments interested; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That immediately upon the passage of this Act, that the
Governor is authorized to appoint three competent persons
representing the State and City of Annapolis who. together
with such persons as the authorities at the U. S. Naval Acad-
emy may designate shall immediately proceed to perfect plans
and specifications of the disposal of said sewage, either by a
disposal plant or by carrying it into the Chesapeake Bay.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said commission shall
serve without pay, but the Mayor, Councilor and Aldermen
of the City of Annapolis are hereby directed, when the work
is completed, to pay for such survey plans and specifications
as the commission may deem necessary in a sum not exceeding
five hundred dollars.
