gan Brothers, Daniel W. Grim, Anna B. Dengler, Catherine
C. Kinney, and the Elkridge Fox Hunting Club, residents of
Baltimore County, State of Maryland, applied for and each
was issued a Retail Liquor License and an additional license
for the sale of liquor by retail for said county and State, for
the period from May 1st, 1919, to May 1st. 1920.

WHEREAS, The sale of spirituous and fermented liquor has
been prohibited in the United States by National Legislation,
said prohibition, as to the principal spirituous and fermented
liquor that induced the holders of Liquor Licenses set forth
hereinbefore to apply for and purchase said licenses, being
effective July 1st, 1919, thereby depriving them of the real
profit from that date that they anticipated at the time said
licenses were obtained; and,

WHEREAS, Under the provisions of Section 21-B of Chapter
31 of the Acts of 1916, Retail Liquor Licenses for Baltimore
County can be cancelled and the amount paid for such licenses
refunded pro rata from the unexpired portion of the term for
which such licenses were granted; and.

WHEREAS, Said refund is to be paid by the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Baltimore County, out of Liquor License
Funds in his hands or thereafter to come into his hands; and.
WHEREAS, From Section 16 of Article 179 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland, .1908, the Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court for Baltimore County turned over to the Treasurer
of Baltimore County three-fourths of the amount received
from each of the holders of licenses as named hereinbefore,
less Clerk's fees, leaving no Liquor License Funds in his
hands and because of the sale of liquor being prohibited, no
funds therefrom to hereafter come into his hands; and,

WHEREAS, The holders of licenses named hereinbefore have
filed their licenses with the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Baltimore County and the same have been ordered cancelled
by the Judge of said Court; now therefore;

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Baltimore County
are hereby authorized and directed to levy in the next suc-
ceeding levy for taxes, and to pay to Anna Schepers, Frank
Holtzner, Edward Petzold, Sidney Reinicke, Jacob Gauss,
Frank F. Huff, August Kabernagel, Edward Waldman, Peter
Tremper, Patrick J. LeHane, Mary C. Frank, Meta L. Wa-
haus. Joseph P. Brady, Harry D. Busick, Frank P. Fitz-
