of three years, such principal shall receive a salary of at least
one thousand four hundred dollars ($1,400) per school year;
provided, if such principal has served as principal of an ap-
proved high school of the first group in the State of Mary-
land for a period of five years, such principal shall receive a
salary of at least one thousand five hundred dollars ($1.500)
per school year; provided, if such principal has served as
principal of an approved high school of the first group in the
State of Maryland for a period of seven years, such principal
shall receive a salary of at least one thousand six hundred
dollars ($1,600) per school year. And provided, further, if
a high school of the first group employs six full-time high
school teachers and has maintained an average daily attend-
ance of one hundred pupils during the preceding year, the
principal of such high school shall receive at least one hundred
dollars ($100) more per school year than the foregoing sched-
ule requires; if a high school of the first group employs ten
full-time high school teachers and has maintained an average
daily attendance of two hundred pupils during the preceding
year, the principal of such high school shall receive at least
two hundred dollars ($200) more per school year than the
foregoing schedule requires.

The principal of a high school of the second group shall be
paid at least one hundred dollars ($100) more per school year
than the minimum required for a regular high school teacher.
Provided, further, that a principal of a high school of the
third group shall be paid at least fifty dollars ($50) more per
school year than the minimum required for a regular high
school teacher. And provided, further, that all high school
principals on provisional certificates may be paid one hundred
dollars ($100) per school year less than the foregoing schedule
requires.

The term "high school principal's certificate," as used in
Sub-Section 4. Section 55, Chapter 506. Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1916, shall be interpreted to apply
only to principals of high schools of the first group, and the
regular high school teacher's certificate as defined in Sub-
Section 5. Section 55, Chapter 506, Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland of 1916, shall be valid for the principal-
ship of a high school either of the second group or of the third
group.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That Sections 127 and
