WHEREAS, Sec, 216E of Chapter 83 of the Acts of 1910 em-
powered the Road Directors of Allegany County, Maryland,
to expend not more than $400 a year for clerk hire in. con-
nection with permanent improvements or other road expendi-
tures in Allegany County; and whereas said Road Directors
have, for the past two years, employed the Clerk to the County
Commissioners of Allegany County, Maryland, as their clerk,
but without any compensation whatever, it being doubtful
whether the Clerk to the County Commissioners could legally
receive any money for such services under the present law;
therefore:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Road Directors of Allegany County, Maryland,
are hereby empowered to employ as clerk the Clerk to the
County Commissioners of Allegany County, or such other per-
son or persons as they shall deem competent to perform the
duties required, and to pay such person or persons so em-
ployed such sum, not exceeding four hundred dollars a year,
as said Road Directors shall deem advisable.

SECTION 2. And be if further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on the first day of June, 1920.

CHAPTER 83.

AN ACT to authorize and empower the Town Commissioners
of Queenstown to construct, erect or acquire and maintain
an electric light, heat and power plant for the purpose of
lighting the streets of said town and supplying the citizens
and corporations of said town and vicinity with electric
power in all of its forms; to issue and sell its bonds in
amounts not exceeding seven thousand dollars ($7,000.00)
to provide funds for that purpose; to levy taxes on the
assessable property in said town to redeem said bonds and
to pay the interest thereon and to acquire lands and other
property by condemnation and otherwise needed in the
construction of said plant.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
