SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Charles County
be and they are hereby directed to refund to James A. Haislip
twenty dollars and seventy-five cents ($20.75), paid in error
by him into the County Treasury as County taxes for the
years 1918 and 1919, and the said County Commissioners are
hereby directed to levy in the next succeeding levy for taxes,
a sum sufficient to pay said James A. Haislip the above-men-
tioned amount.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 604.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 36 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, title, "Fees of Offi-
cers," sub-title. "Justices of the Peace," said new section
to follow immediately after Section 19 of said Article,
to be known as Section 19-A, and to fix the costs and fees
of the Justices of the Peace and Constables of the People's
Court of Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby added
to Article .36 of the Code of Public General Laws of Mary-
land, title, "Fees of Officers," sub-title, "Justices of the
Peace," said new section to follow immediately after Section
19 of said Article, to be known as Section 19-A, and to read
as follows:
19-A. The Justices of the Peace and Constables of the
People's Court of Baltimore City shall be entitled to charge
and collect the costs and fees herein provided for the per-
formance of their respective duties, and such costs and fees
shall be payable at the time of the institution of said proceed-
ings to the Chief Constable of the People's Court of Balti-
more City, said costs and fees to be as follows:
For actions Ex-contractu and Ex-delicto (first costs) $2.00
For summoning each additional defendant ......... .50
For trial ....................................... 1.00
For swearing each witness ........................ .20
