CHAPTER 605.

AN ACT to repeal Section 123 of Article 27 of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland (Bagby Edition), en-
titled "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title "False Pre-
tenses," and to re-enact the same with amendments; and
to add an additional section to said Article 27, said new
section to be known as Section 123-A, and to follow imme-
diately after Section 123 of said Article 27.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 123 of Article 27 of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland (Bagby Edition), entitled "Crimes
and Punishments," sub-title "False Pretenses," be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, and
that a new section be added to said Article 27, said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 123-A, and to follow immediately
after Section 123; said Section 123 as amended and said new
Section 123-A to read, respectively, as follows:

SECTION 123. Every person who, with intent to cheat and
defraud another, shall obtain money, credit, goods, wares or
anything of value by means of a check, draft or any other
negotiable instrument of any kind drawn, whether by such
person or by any other person, persons, firm or corporation,
upon any bank, person, firm or corporation, not indebted to
drawer, or where the drawer or drawers thereof, shall not have
provided for the payment or acceptance, and the same be not
