1170 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 585

a new public High School building in the town of Stockton, in
Worcester County, the County Commissioners of Worcester
County are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to
borrow on the faith and credit of said Worcester County, the
sum of forty-five thousand dollars and to issue bonds therefor
as hereinafter directed, to be signed by the President of the
County Commissioners of Worcester County and counter-
signed by the County Treasurer of said County with the seal
of said County affixed thereto.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said bonds
shall be issued in denominations of not less than five hundred
dollars nor more than one thousand dollars with coupons
attached thereto for the payment of the interest thereon semi-
annually on the first day of January and July in each and
every year until the maturity thereof, said coupons to have
the signature of the County Treasurer printed or written
thereon; said bonds shall bear interest from the date thereof
at a rate not exceeding five per centum per annum and shall
he exempt from State, County and Municipal taxes.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That said bonds shall
be issued in series from one to nine, inclusive, each series
consisting of five thousand dollars of said amount and the
bonds in each of said series shall be numbered consecutively
beginning with No. 1 in each series and shall be redeemable
and payable as follows: Five thousand dollars thereof on
the first day of July, 1922, and five thousand dollars thereof
annually thereafter on the first day of July until the entire
issue has been retired; and said bonds shall have printed on
them a distinct reference to the Act directing their issue.

SP:C. 4. And be it further enacted. That the said interest
coupons and the said principal of said bonds shall he payable
at the office of the County Treasurer of Worcester County
and whenever any of such coupon or coupons, bond or bonds
shall have been paid or redeemed, it or they shall be cancelled
and destroyed by the County Treasurer and a note thereof
made on the record of said bond.

SEC. 5. And be il further enacted, That when the said
bonds shall be duly prepared as herein described the County
Commissioners of Worcester County shall advertise the same
in at least two newspapers published in Worcester County and
in at least one newspaper published in Baltimore City, and
