held and used by the said Institution, which lies on the east
side of the Maryland State Road now built and running across
the northeast corner of said land, containing by estimation
about one-quarter of an acre of land, or so much as the same
may contain, and to apply the proceeds thereof to the gen-
eral needs of the institution:
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the President of said
Board, together with the Secretary .and Treasurer thereof, he
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to convey
said strip, part or parcel of land described in Section 1 of
this Act. to any purchaser, in the discretion of the said board,
by a good and sufficient deed to be executed, acknowledged
and recorded according to law.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1920.

CHAPTER 580.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
488 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title,
"Frederick County," sub-title. "Justices of the Peace
and Constables." as the same was enacted by Chapter 86
of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland in 1918,
relating to the powers and jurisdiction of Justices of the
Peace in Election District No. 2 of said Frederick County,
and disposing of the fines and penalties collected by
them and not otherwise disposed of by law.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 488 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title, "Frederick County," sub-title. "Jus-
tices of the Peace and Constables," as the same was enacted
by Chapter 86 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land in 1918, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, so as to read as follows:
SEC. 488. The three justices of the peace for Election
District No. 2, provided for in the preceding section, shall
each be paid by the County Commissioners of said county, in
equal quarterly installments, the sum of six hundred dollars
per annum, and shall receive no other or further fees for any
services rendered by them in criminal cases or arrests for
the violations of any of the laws of the State of Maryland, and
