word masculine is used, it shall be construed as including
the word feminine.
SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety, and being passed upon a yea or nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all the members-elect to each of
the two houses of the General Assembly, the same shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 5.
AN ACT to repeal Section 5 of the Charter of Annapolis,
relating to municipal elections as enacted by Chapter
471 of the Acts of 1920, and to re-enact same with
amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 5 of the Charter of Annapolis
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so
as to read as follows:
SECTION 5. The Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of
the City of Annapolis shall provide for the registration
of all persons entitled to vote at the municipal election
in the City of Annapolis on the sixteenth, seventeenth,
eighteenth and nineteenth days of May in the year 1921,
and on the third Monday of May in each year when a
municipal election is held thereafter; and on the nine-
teenth day of May in the year 1921, and on the third
Monday of May in each year thereafter when registra-
tion is provided, shall receive applications in writing
under oath to strike from said registration lists the
names of persons who may not be entitled to vote at said
Municipal elections. Such applications shall comply
with the provisions of Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, entitled "Elections. " On the
first Monday of June following, said registers shall sit
