47 ~  Court convenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jeckins, James Dashiels, James Round, Samuel Hopkins, Capt, John King.

 

48 ~  Petition of John Pitt on behalf of kinsman, John Earles of Bristol, “now in slavery to the Turkes”, taken captive after leaving Bristol for America on 21 March; asks for contributions to pay ransom; petition given to the Grand Jury which recommends that 3 lbs/tbco per tythable be provided; Court approves. (See Transcription)

 

48 ~  Petition of John Goldsmith to be non taxable; granted by Court provided Sheriff can find any concealed or other person not presently on the tax list.

 

48 ~  Note made in Court that Amos Parsons refused to obey summons for appearance in Court to answer the charge of John Mcknitt about Parson’s dog; Court orders Parsons appear next Court to answer for his contempt; be taken into custody until security posted for his appearance.

 

48 ~  Petition of Nicholas Cornewell asks Court to assess additional time on indenture of his servant Edward Hogg, runaway for 101 days; Hogg in court admits his runaways; petition granted; Cornewell will reduce the additional time by half if Hogg give good service.

49 ~  John King submits account dated 9 August 1693 for 150 lbs/pork due him from estate of John Wood; Thomas Cross, administrator for the estate, admits debt; Court orders payment, with costs.

 

49 ~  Petition of Thomas Morris for cost of caring for diseased boy, Alexander Humber,  per agreement with Samuel Hopkins and James Round; care given from 21 September until 2 January when Humber died; Court approves 787 lbs/tbco to Morris. (See 1692-93 Judicials, f.34)
