18 JANUARY 1695/6 133 ~ Court convenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jenckins, Matthew Scarbrough, George Layfield, James Round, John King 133~ Court orders Sheriff to take John Tayler into custody until he give security for good behavior and pay damages and cost of suit in recent case (see f.113, rape of Elizabeth Cowin), Tayler openly and obstinately refusing to do so. 133 ~ Court adjourned until 2nd Tuesday in March. 133 ~ Power of Attorney of Capt. Henry Smith, Gent, dated 12 July 1695; authorizes “my well beloved Sonn Thomas Jones, Gent” to act on his behalf on all business transactions; witnesses William Coulbourne, James Price. (See Transcription) 134 ~ Memorandum of William Coulbourne attesting to foregoing Power of Attorney; dated 24 January 1695/6; witnesses Francis Jenckins, John King, Stephen Horsey. 134 ~ James Duncan requests payment for seven days attendance at Court; case of William Greer vs. Richard Warren. 134 ~ Court adjourned until 2nd Tuesday in March 1695/6. |
