112~  Court convenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jenckins, Thomas Dixon, Matthew Scarbrough, George Layfield, Thomas Newbold, Samuel Hopkins, James Round, John King.

112 ~  Petition of Esau Boston (unspecified) denied for lack of Dukes will.

113 ~  Case against John Stockley; warrant issued for Sheriff to take him into custody until March Court at Dividing Creek.

113 ~  Recognizance bond for £10 on David Jenckins to appear at March Court at Dividing Creek; security Matthew Scarbrough.

113 ~  Case against Henry Smith, planter, and Elizabeth Neugen for cohabitation; after testimony of evidences Court finds Smith guilty; corporal punishment awarded for want of security; 15 lashes for Smith, 10 for Neugen;  Richard Tull, innholder, posts recognizance bond of 1000 lbs/tbco for their fees.

113 ~  Case against John Tayler for rape of Elizabeth Cowin; Peter Dent, Clerk of Indictments, charges Tayler with assault and attempted rape on 24 October 1695; Jury called: John Porter, John Virgin, Robert Down, Thomas Gordon, William Henry, Hough Porter, Richard Webb, Pearce Bray, Cornelius Morris, James Atkinson, Martin Trentham, William Fausett; Jury hears six witnesses against Tayler; four statements are read attesting to Cowin being a contentious and untrustworthy person given to lying and slander - George Watt, Jane Watt, Cornelius and Margaret Ward, Thomas Prior; Jury finds Tayler guilty; recommends 1000 lbs/tbco award to Cowin; Court so orders, with costs.
