34 ~ Court convenes; Commissioners present: Francis Jenckins, Thomas Dixon, Matthew Scarbrough, George Layfield, Thomas Newbold, Samuel Hopkins, James Round, Arnold Elzey, Thomas Jones

34 ~  Thomas Oxford, Pltf. vs. John Webb, innholder, Deft. for debt of 30 shillings, or pieces of eight at 4/6 each; Robert Pirrie, attorney for Oxford, presents a bill of debt signed 6 January 1693 at Snow Hill promising payment by 28 April following; witnesses Walter Reed, Martin Trentham; Peter Dent, for Webb, says that action not needed since he has always been ready to pay; Court hears deposition of Mr. Richardson; Walter Reed makes oath; Court rules a non-suit; Dent pays the original debt in Court.

35  ~  William Densem, Pltf. vs. Lawrence Crawford. Deft. for 597 lbs/tbco; Sam Worthington, attorney 

for Densem presents bill signed 4 November 1690 by Crawford at Pocomoke promising delivery by following 10 December; Robert Pirrie, for Crawford, enters non sum informatus, admits debt; Court orders payment.

35 ~  Richard Maclure, Pltf. vs. Henry Reed (Read), wife Perthenia, Admn of John Smock, Deft. for debt of  2000 lbs/tbco;  Peter Dent, attorney for Maclure, claims Smock contracted debt on 25 June 1692 at Manokin; Samuel Alexander, for Read, says estate has been administered and no assets remain; Court considers the claim made too late and rules a non-suit.

36 ~  John Lokey, & wife Ursilla, Pltfs. vs. Henry Smith, planter, Deft. for debt of 1000 lbs/tbco; Sam Worthington, attorney for Lokey, claims payent due for mare sold and delivered by Ursilla to Smith at Manokin on 2 February 1692/3; Robert Pirrie for Smith denies debt; Court rules for plaintiffs; orders payment of 800 lbs/tbco.

37 ~  John Henry, Pltf, vs. Charles Tindall, Deft. for debt of 905 lbs/tbco; Samuel Alexander, attorney for Henry, presents Tindall’s account from 3 July 1692 at Manokin for sundry items; mentions Robert Hignutt; Tindall does not appear; Court rules payment be made by Richard Shockley who had stood special bail for Tindall at November Court.

37 ~  Robert Synock, Chirurgeon, Pltf. vs. Capt. John King & Mr. Thomas Jones, Admns for Stephen Luffe, Defts. for debt of  5680 lbs/tbco; Peter Dent, attorney for Synock, presents account from January 1692 for treatment and medicines provided Luffe during his terminal cancer; verified by David Browne and Charles Hutchins; Sam Worthington, for defts, claims account is not consistent; Dent says it was submitted as a quanto meriot and was valid; Court rules a non suit since the quanto meriot was short of the credit given.

39 ~  William Fausett, Pltf. vs. Edward Perkins, planter and sawyer, Deft. for one thousand feet of plank & scanthing; Sam Worthington, attorney for Fausett, claims Perkins agreed to provide the lumber in return for a cow and calf; Faucett delivered the animals but has received no lumber; Perkins admits reciving the cow, but did not agree to the lumber; Court orders Perkins perform the work, pay costs.

39 ~  Lawrence Crawford, wife Sarah, Admx of John White, Pltfs. vs. Dr. John Rousello, sawyer,  Deft. for debt of 899 lbs/tbco; Robert Pirrie, attorney for Crawfords, presents note signed 15 October 1684 at Pocomoke; Court finds for plaintiffs, as declared.

40 ~  Thomas Williams, of  Saint Maries County, Pltf. vs. Michael Murphey, Deft. for debt of 300 lbs/tbco; Peter Dent, attorney for Williams, presents note signed 8 June 1694 by Murphey promising payment in St. Maries by 10 October following; Court rules for Williams as declared.

41 ~  Thomas Williams, Pltf. vs. Michael Murphey, Deft; declaration improperly stated Murphey’s name as Thomas; Court rules a non-suit.

41 ~  Alexander Killock of Manokin, planter, Pltf. vs. James Walker, planter of St. Martins, Deft. for debt of 400 lbs/tbco; Samuel Alexander, attorney for Killock, presents bill signed 9 January 1693/4 by Walker at Manokin; witnesses Robert Givan, Andrew Caldwell; Court rules for Killock as declared.

41 ~  Capt. John King & Mr. Thomas Jomes, Admns of Stephen Luffe, Pltfs. vs. John Tayler of Wicomico, Deft. for debt of 540½ lbs/tbco; Sam Worthington, attorney for plaintiffs, presents account showing Luffe credited for paying taxes for Tayler in 1691-92;  Sheriff returns Writs for Tayler  non est inventus; Court orders attachment of Tayler’s goods; plaintiffs required to make bond as security for the attachment.

42 ~  Donnock Dennis, planter, Pltf. vs. Alexander Mackswaine, Merchant, Deft. for debt of 1024 lbs/tbco; Sam Worthington, attorney for Dennis, presents bill of debt signed 25 April 1691 by Mackswaine at Nasswaddox promising payment by 10 October following; witnesses Henry Lynch, John Seargeant; writ returned by Sheriff non sum inventus; Court orders attachment of Mackswaine’s goods; Dennis required to post bond of 2000 lbs/tbco as security for the attachment.

43 ~  Anthony Morris, Admn for estate of Joseph Light, Pltf. vs. James Jones of Virginia, Deft; declaration read, but no such person as Joseph Light was in Letter of Administration; dismissed.

43 ~  John Broughton requests payment for 7 days attendance at Court, case of Samuel Marchment vs. Ralph Milbourn.

43 ~  Edward Stevens requests payment for 17 days attendance at Court; case of Samuel Marchment vs. Ralph Milbourn.

43 ~  John Sergeant requests payment for 3 days attendance at Court; case of Dennock Dennis vs. Alexander Mackswaine.

43 ~  Henry Philips requests payment for 12 days attendance at Court; case of John Lokey vs. Henry Smith.

44 ~  Mary Fillpott requests payment for 11 days attendance at Court; case of John Lokey vs. Henry Smith.
