CHAPTER 7.

AN ACT to authorize the Trustees of the Poor of Charles
County, Maryland, to sell a tract of land called and known
as "The Alms House Tract, " belonging to the said Trustees
of the Poor of Charles County, Maryland, and to convey
the same by a legal and sufficient deed to the purchaser or
purchasers thereof and to pay over the proceeds arising
from the said sale, after defraying the expense of said sale,
to the County Commissioners of Charles County, Maryland,
who shall use the same in defraying the expenses of build-
ing a new County Jail at LaPlata, Maryland.

WHEREAS, The Alms House of Charles County. Maryland,
having been destroyed by fire and the tract of land upon which
it was located, lying and situate in Charles County, Mary-
land, called and known as "the Alms House Tract" of land,
has now on buildings thereon suitable for charitable purposes
and the location thereof now being unsuitable, even if it
should be hereafter deemed practical to build another Alms
House; and the said tract of land is unsuitable and cannot be
used for any purpose in that line; it is non-productive and
cannot be used for any other practical purposes for the benefit
of said Trustees of the Poor of Charles County, Maryland;
now, therefore:

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General, Assembly of
Maryland, That the Trustees of the Poor of Charles County,
Maryland, are hereby authorized and directed to sell said
tract of land called and known as "The Alms House Tract" of
land, and after selling said tract of land, the said Trustees
of the Poor of Charles County, Maryland, after paying all
expenses incurred in making said sale shall pay over the net
proceeds thereof to the County Commissioners of Charles
County, Maryland, who are directed to use said money or so
much thereof as may be necessary in defraying the expense of
building the new County Jail at LaPlata, Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the manner of
making said sale shall be as follows: They shall sell the said
